I don’t think I’m a typical girl.
I thought about that last night after an incident brought to mind another from years ago and a conversation at work a few weeks ago.
At work we had been discussing having had houses or cars broken into. When I was in high school our house was broken into and we were upset.
When I first moved here…actually about a year after my car was broken into.
Now Nickey said when her car was broken into she felt violated.
Me, I raged in the parking lot for about thirty minutes swearing and ready to kill the people who had done it.
So last night I get home and as I walked in the door I thought I heard water running in the laundry room. I wondered if perhaps the sink was leaking or maybe the toilet was running. I dropped my bag from work and headed into the laundry room. Upon opening the door and stepping in I found my self in a lake with a waterfall.
My water heater was gushing, and I do mean gushing, water from the front and the top. The water actually started to cover my boots that I was wearing. I grabbed my cell and called my landlord. I ended up leaving a voicemail that consisted of “I’m standing in a lake and the water isn’t stopping!” (well…that was the condensed version)
My next call was to my mom and her boyfriend. They helped me figure out all the knobs to turn to get the water shut off and then I flipped the breakers so that I wouldn’t get electrocuted while trying to mop up the lake. I spent the next 45 minutes attempting to reduce the amount of water on the floor.
This whole time I wasn’t crying or anything.
I was PISSED OFF.
I think every time I wrung out that mop I cursed my landlord for not fixing the water heater or replacing it when I commented that it was leaking a couple of months ago.
So yeah. When things go really wrong I do cry. I swear and want to kill something. I ended up playing WoW for a couple of hours and killing everything I came in range of just to work some of it off.
And no….I still have no hot water as of this moment.
