SHELBY - Brides get ready, the Fifth Annual Cleveland County Bridal Fair is almost here.

The bridal fair was the brain child of Tracy Stilwell, owner of Victorian Rose Photography Studio, and Cheryl Young, owner of Carolina Bridal and Alterations.

After exhibiting at many bridal shows, the two realized that the area needed a bridal show to showcase local vendors. Stillwell and Young wanted to create an affordable show for vendors to exhibit at a local level.

Now five years later the show has grown and has four main supporters, one being the LeGrand Center and the other KD Marketing.

“This is the first year for all four of us,” said Kim Davis of KD Marketing.

The bridal show will be Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 8, from 1 -5 p.m., at the LeGrand Center, 1800 E. Marion St.

The show will have 50 vendors for brides to see and multiple demonstrations and talks on wedding details. This includes ideas on what beers to serve at the wedding, hair and make-up demonstrations and several other presentations throughout the day.

And there are several other new features for this year's show.

“We will have a man cave, where guys can watch a game and sit and relax,” Davis said.

Along with the man cave, there will also be a café and bar where people can grab some food and try some beverages.

“There will be comfortable chairs and people can buy food and sit and relax,” Davis said.

All brides at the show will receive a gift bag with items from local vendors, and there will be door prizes.

“We have better door prizes this year, including a bachelorette weekend in Asheville,” Davis said.

This includes a one-night stay at a condo in Asheville, with a small spa treatment and light food and drink. There will also be a bridal gown up for grabs.

“For the bridal gown, the wedding has to be four to six months out. The dress must be custom-ordered for the bride and can’t be turned around in a week,” Davis said.

Vendors will also be supplying door prizes.

In the past there has been upwards of 150 brides attending the event. This year Davis said brides will be coming from the four and five surrounding counties.

“There is usually 130 to 150 brides that attend, but we have tripled our marketing this year,” Davis said.

This show is an opportunity for brides and grooms to meet and get to know potential vendors and gain insight for their special day. All brides and grooms that register get in free to the show and their names are entered for door prizes. Additional guests can purchase tickets at the door for $5.
