Hmm blog time huh, ok well here goes the last three days
Went to the South Texas Tactical shooting competition in Mountain Home, Texas.
The rules had changed a bit since last year, but after the first ten minutes in the
office, it was clear that me and my team mates had a lot of catching up to do.
We took our weapons to the "Range Safety Officer" , that is in title only, he
had no clue what he was doing there. We had some time to kill, so after lunch
we took a look at the course we would have to be navigating Saturday morning.
The course was laid out like a four block section of Smallville, USA. Building on
the sides and gutted cars on the streets. The object is to make your way from point
"A" to point "B" shooting a set number of targets along the way. You compete in
three man teams, a change from the five man teams of last year, and this is a live
round competition, no paint ball, no laser tag. My team has been together for four
years and we work well together. This year, I had to ask my wife, who has always
watched, but never joined in, to compete as well. and to her credit, she did
exceptionally well for a first timer. She didn't qualify to carry an ATR on the
course, but she did qualify with her Glock, and thats all that mattered. So
needless to say she got a lot of looks from some men, prolly wondering "What
the hell is SHE doing here??" And with her being my wife I wanted her right
off my hip, that way I could give her subtle directions, which arnt allowed
by the way, but with both of us knowing ASL, we cheated our asses off. We
tied the "Texas Border Potrol Anti-Terror Task Force" for first place with points,
but they whooped our asses in the time portion, by like 5 minutes, so we took
second over all. The other half of my crew took 4th missing just 2 targets. But
all in all it was a really good weekend of shooting. Met some crazy cops, and
a few brain dead assholes from Homeland Security. God and our country's safety is
in their hands.........maks me shudder just thinking about it.... Anyhow, when
they release the results I'll post them, along with the solo night competition. I got
third , but my team mates got first and second, so its like I had some part in it
too right?
