SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS
Ladies and Gentlemen: We are gathered here to join in the celebration of the year… Most commonly marked by the presentation of diamonds. This by the way is what we wanted to do for you today; but thought that Ford, Chrysler or GM would do just as well.
I guess in our wee little minds
The only way that we can comprehend time
Beyond that redundant tick, tick, ticky
Of our classic Mickey…
Mouse clock
Is to reach for the oldest thing we think we see
Because the wisdom of time is truly the greatest mystery
It’s strange how most of the tie we don’t understand
But wee too have seen it slip through our hands
Leaving us with what could have been
And remembrance of all those days when
Yeah it was good way back then
No doubts and I remembers for a dear old friend
But this is now and the challenge of today
Is to figure how
As time keeps slipping away
How do you remain so spry?
And keep that delightful twinkle in your eye
The pessimists would say you’re almost at the end
And that these are the days of fading yen
But, we know better don’t we.
When else can you have this kind of party?
Folks you haven’t seen in ages
Bear witness as we toast one of our sages
Yeah, these words may come from me
But they are the expressions of your whole family
A daughter and two sons
Nephews, nieces and little ones
Cousins, several grandchildren and even a great
Wouldn’t we all be fortunate to endure the same fate?
Quite a long time you’ve managed to stay alive
Seems almost hard to conceive seventy-five
We al thank you for the things you’ve done to enhance who we are
And tonight we celebrate you! Because you’re our shining star!
