Seuss Rolls Over

I have to tell you a thing.

A terrible,

Horrible,

Awfulable thing...

I was driving along,

The day was quite clear.

I had to change lanes

So I looked in the mirror.

I didn't look much,

I didn't look long,

But somehow, some way

Something went wrong!

I turned back around

And POP! Just like that,

In front of my car

Was The Cat in the Hat!

I stomped on the brakes!

I heard a big SPLAT!

Then next thing I knew

The... Cat... in the Hat... was flat.

Oh drat! Drat! Drat! Drat!

Why did he jump out in the street like that?

I thought "What do I do?

Where do I run?"

If only I knew

This had just begun...

Out of the Hat,

Under the Sun,

Crawled Thing One

And Thing Two,

Thing Two and Thing One!

Both of them,

Both of them

Holding a gun!

They started advancing,

Chanting "You're through!"

And my fear,

Oh my fear,

It just grew, grew, grew!

So next thing I knew

I ran over them too.

Now I sit in this cell

Where I've sat and I've sat,

For the murder of Things

And a striped hat wearing cat.
