Interests
I enjoy spending time with my wife Nikki above anything. Since she's the coolest wife in the world, though, I don't have to sacrifice time w/my guy friends; she hangs out with us. It's wonderful not to have to give up time w/our friends like a lot of people do when they get married. Basically, we enjoy curling up on the couch with a packed bowl and a good movie and just chill with our kids (3 dogs and a cat).
When I'm not curled up on the couch with my wife, I like shooting pool, wakeboarding and snowboarding (although I have yet to get Nikki involved in those...heh-heh), working on cars, and getting inked. My latest piece is a huge-ass sacred heart made from motorcycle parts on my back. I currently have around 22 tattoos (I think...lost count).
I'm really big into Kustom Kulture. I enjoy the art of Von Dutch, Von Franco, Robert Williams, and Dirty Donny. I'm also into your typical Kustom Kulture cars. My dream list would be a 1923 Ford T-bucket rat rod (all-Chevy drivetrain), 1954 Chevy Bel Air, and a 1968 Chevy Camaro SS. I would also like to eventually have a mid-80's Chevy K6 Blazer, and it would be nice to have my 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS-6 back.
I'm a huge chopper nut, my favorite company being West Coast Choppers. Don't get me wrong--the OCC boys do great work, it's just not my style. I'm more into straight-line frames instead of that curvy shit people are into these days. Just call me Johnny Old School. West Coast Choppers is about attitude, not just bikes and cars. The quote on the back of my favorite WCC shirt says it all: "West Coast Choppers Specializing In: No service work, no repair work, no accessories, no financing, cash only, and fuck you!"
Life is grand. :)
Music
I listen to everything, mostly heavy metal. Favorite bands include Down, old Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Damageplan, Slayer, old Sepultura (w/Max), Soulfly, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Misfits, Corrosion of Conformity, Kiss, Motley Crue, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Opeth, and many others. I also listen to blues, jazz, classical, hip-hop (note: NOT rap/R&B! There IS a difference!), and old-school twangy country (not the pop-country shit they play on the radio these days).
I've also been playing bass and guitar since 1993, although I'm not in any bands, nor do I have any desire to be at the moment. If the right thing comes along, though, I wouldn't be against the idea of returning to playing music with other people. But for now, I'm happy cutting demos with my best friend and longtime drummer Tom.
