Ya know what really irritates me? Lots of stuff does, but here's one example....
When someone belongs to an organization that participates in fundraising activities in order to support local organizations, or individuals, in need and they let their personal interests, beliefs, or attitudes interfere with their fundraising goal.
Okay so maybe I should be more specific. A girl I know tried to buy a candybar from a sorority member selling candybars to help families in need during the holiday season. The girl selling the candy refused to sell a candybar to my friend because she did not agree with that person's religious beliefs.
Now why would you let your personal feelings about someone's religious orientation affect your goal of raising money to help area residents during the holidays? I feel that was a very petty thing to do and the girl should be reminded of what she is raising money for.
Do you think that some kid would rather go without warm clothes than take a dollar from someone of a different faith than they are? I don't think so.
It's nice to know that there are some people out there that would rather turn down someone's well-intentioned donation due to their own personal beliefs and feelings, rather than accepting the generosity of others in supporting those less fortunate than they. I mean geez just because she's sitting comfortably she doesn't care about anyone else. That's very nice. I think that she needs to be reminded of what she is doing and why.
I wish there were a way to instill on others what it is like to truly be in need. I don't think that it is truly understood unless you have been there. That is very sad to me. It's like John Lennon's "Imagine" it's easy if you try.
Please try to remember that there are other people out there that are worse off than you are, no matter where you are in life. Please give from your heart and help others when you can. If the world did that, we would all be much better for it.
