Okay, let me see if I can do this in a thousand words or less.
One of my roommates got into an accident last Thursday. Because he is on parole after serving a year for his 5th DUI, he was put on a parole hold and was taken to county jail after release from hospital pending his hearing at 1:30pm today.
Since he was not able to contact us, one of our other roommates (there are 4 of us sharing a house) and I spent most of Saturday trying to find him, up to the point where I filed a missing person report on him.
Here is my dilema. Early last year, I had to experience 3 separate episodes of D. falling off the wagon, two of which I literally walked in and removed alcohol bottles from his hand. After the third episode, which occurred exactly a year ago, I told him I wished him well, but I could not take the emotional strain f his alcoholism. After three weeks in rehab, he came back to the house and everything was okay until last week.
On Saturday, I surprised myself that I was able to conduct the search looking for him, fearing that he had fallen off the wagon again. At 8:35 pm, his mother in New York called me to tell me he had finally contacted her, and told her where he was.
I am literally of two minds on this, so please help me Fubarians.
Do I:
A) Go to his hearing at 1:30 to support him because it might have been his medications fault for everything happening.
or
B) Go about my own life and let him deal with the situation and he is a big boy and this is a battle he is and will continue to struggle with for some time. |
