Rollin', rollin', rollin....

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin Sep 19, 2006 Things keep on pushing forward, and progress has been made. In fact last night may have been the last time for drum tracking. I say "might" because there are no guarantees in this business. Things change everyday. Yesterday was a big day for this album. I'll start from the small, and work up... First things first, I had a wonderful session with my vocal coach. It was really interesting for me probably more than anyone else because she spent a long time basically analyzing my particular voice. I didn't know it, but from my first word "hello", she was listening to the sound of my voice. We discussed a ton of things including what I felt were my strengths and weaknesses, and she gave me all kinds of info on of how a voice works, why mine sounds like it does, and how I can make it even stronger. She was very clear about not wanting to change my "style", but more worried about showing me how to sing the correct way so that I do not cause any damage. After learning the do's and don't we did a lot of different exercises that will build my vocal muscles. I couldn't be more excited about growing as a singer, and "Tina" knows what she doing. I mean if I have any doubts I could always just call up you know...Avril Lavigne( who is another one of her students.) Anyway, I'm excited and nervous about the album coming out specifically because of my vocals. I'm really pushing my limits on a couple of songs, but I think it will all be for the better... So after my journey "Uptown Baby" I headed back to the studio for big news number 2. The next notable thing about the day was the fantastic drum sounds, bass sounds, and playing. Will and Dann were killing it yesterday. In fact after listening back today, we noticed that there would be no drum edits on a song called "Why" which is huge in this day and age of protools. Everything is cut to the mili-second and beyond. Staying tight to a click track is what it's all about. Anyway, Dann deserves credit for a job very well done! Finally, after the day wasn't magical enough we got even bigger news..."David Campbell" agreed to arrange strings for our album. Now most of you may not know him by name, but if you haven't heard his work I'd be shocked...Anybody heard the song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls? How about "Drops of Jupiter" by "Train"? How about a short list of bands like Bon Jovi, Green Day, Faith Hill, Areosmith, Linkin Park, Billy Joel. Not enough? Then look him up on "All Music.com' This guy has done every genre, and had mega hits. His strings have made songs smash hits that before may have only been an album track. Anyway, we've got him, and I can't wait to hear what he will do with a song like "Song for the Summer". If you can't tell I'm still on cloud 9. That is one checkmark for our wishlist on this album. We still have another very "Big Wish", but can't really say because we don't have any conformation just yet. So, as you can tell...yesterday was huge....so huge in fact I'm still in a good mood after spending a lifetime getting my passport today, but that is another story. WellI would leave you with a pic of me recording acoustic guitar to the "Album Closer" in the middle of the large Electric Lady Live room, but the website doesn't to accept the file so WHATEVER! Anyway, it was another magical moment to add to the list of many that will be on our debut album!
