It has become more than abundantly clear that even in the modern era we cannot trust outside, plenary pushing, nations to respect our rights. NYS has a major stake in our casinos (in the form of revenue sharing) but when push comes to shove NYS retreats. On the other side of the coin NYS is demanding that we dismantle our private enterprises and begin paying NYS taxes and is willing to do so by force. NYS is perfectly okay with putting nearly 16,000 Iroquois employees (native and non-native alike) on the NYS public assistance roles. That is, I guess, better than recognizing and working with the Iroquois. It will also plunge the very non-native NYS residents into further economic degradation. I agree with the Buffalo News editors: "Manhattan might as well be on Mars" when it compares to upstate. Before and since 1400 we haven't gone anywhere. We hold this land original, absolute, and exclusive! The Six Nations and our brothers on Long Island comprise over 100k native New Yorkers (pre Columbus finding the west Indies.) In the last 100 hundred years we recovered from the donated, small pox infested blankets, to become an economic power house. Isn't NYS happy with the millions of acres we signed away in treaty after treaty. Respect those treaties! If NYS must put us and our fellow upstaters out of business, then there will be less taxes going to NYC. More of the tax will be going to support the upstate families harmed by NYS' anti Indian policy. Come on General Sullivan, the battle over the Allegany Valley has been over since 1776!
