An older brother and my younger sister accompanied me on the recent Belize trip. We haven’t spent that amount of time together, in, well, forever. You get to know a LOT about a person by hanging out with them 24/7. My brother, in particular, uttered some noteworthy things, which I happened to jot down in my pocket notebook for your review. Said he:
* “He couldn’t talk his way out of a paper box.” [When speaking about a negotiator he once met at a party]
* “Hey, bro, get me a Diet Dr. Pepper, will ya?” [When, after stopping at a dilapidated, lean-to of a gas station in the middle of rural, back country Mexico, I went to get a beverage.]
* “I scanned it. It’s not there.” [We were gathered around a map of the island of Ambergris Caye, trying to find a hotel in the list. The hotel was in the list, and I found it a moment after his declaration.
* “Sis, I’m your brother, not a complaint department.” [You’ll have to ask the sister about this one…]
* “This is not a Diet Pepsi. It’s a Diet Pepsi mixed with the urine of a mountain cow.” [Upon drinking a Belizian Diet Pepsi]
* “We should check out the underground scene. There’s probably naked cave tubing.” [Ruminating on a night’s potential activities…]
* “Did everyone bring their club shirts?” [Immediately after producing a flamboyant black shirt with a flashy, stitched design from his backpack.]
