LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- A Louisville icon has died. His name was Charlie Wheeler, but everyone knows him as "Tattoo Charlie."
The 56-year-old came down with a sudden illness Friday and died at Jewish Hospital.
Charlie Wheeler was more than a tattoo artist. He was a shriner for Kosair. He appeared as Santa Claus at the Home of the Innocents, worked with Camp Quality in Leitchfield which serves children with cancer and he started Toys for Tots drives in Hardin and Bullitt Counties.
Visitation for Wheeler will be held at Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway this weekend. Funeral services are set for Monday at 2 p.m.
