So I adopted a Doberman earlier this year. His name is Jax. He is an absolute sweetheart. He turned 6 on Christmas Eve....
Well he has been getting sick... And after taking him to the vet and spending a considerable amount of money having all the tests run, they told me that something is wrong with his liver... It could be one of three things: Chirrosis, Cancer, or Copper Storage Disease. The only one that is curable is the Copper Storage Disease. The problem is, he isn't eating good, and he is losing weight (Anorexia is a symptom of all three)at the same time, his tummy is filling up with fluid due to the liver issue. He is unable to digest protein properly though and it makes him pace and act nervous and the only way to find out for sure what he has is to do a biopsy of his liver. I don't know if I should risk putting him through the surgery for nothing. If he is too weak, I don't want him feeling more pain than he already is... What should I do?? The vet says it is up to me, that she doesn't have an opinion either way. What do you think??
