PRIDE
Our ancestors were kings and queens
So why do we still shuck and jive
They gave us pride, strength and hope
The price they paid were their lives
In their time they cared for each other
To ensure our race would survive
In our time we only think of ourselves
There’s too much black on black crime
They walked with their heads held high
And they shared what they had with the tribe
When we have more then we need
We rather spend it on rims and a ride
They adorned themselves with bones and beads
And looked regal when they walked around
We adorn ourselves with meaningless jewels
And many of us look just like clowns
They treated the elders with love and respect
To ensure they were safe and sound
We put our elders in nursing homes
Like we’re ashamed to have them around
The kings and queens that we came from
Tried to teach us how we should behave
But the way we treat one another ………Well
They're turning in their graves
