BaByGirl's blog: "Thoughts"

created on 10/13/2007  |  http://fubar.com/thoughts/b140966
I have spent the past few years always worrying about someone in Iraq. But this year seems to be the absolute worst. Burrying one friend and almost losing another. When this year is over I can say I was two of my dearest back, David.(Tank MG) and Mario (Judos). But its not over after that I also have a dear friend that is deployed out of here from fort hood. He was just started on his 15 month tour. Its sad really, you get so sick and tired of worrying all the time, but can never stop. There is never any set way to handle it, everyday you watch the news check your e mail, and constantly take your phone everywhere in hopes that you hear that they are ok. Then you get reports that something bad has happened dont know if it rumor or true or even more so if your loved one is dead or alive. Its not easy for our soldiers over seas, but its not easy for us either. So if you see a soldier a friend of a soldier or the gf or wife of a soldier tell them thank you and keep them always in your thoughts and prayers. Its not easy, but someone has to do it. Support the troops. Davids unit just here two days ago ended up getting caught up in a bomb blast in Baghdad. please pray for all the soldiers and their familes...... Fort Carson soldier killed in Baghdad bomb blast A 39-year-old Fort Carson soldier was among two Americans killed in a bomb blast Tuesday in Baghdad, the Army said today. Chief Warrant Officer Robert C. Hammett, of Tucson, Ariz., was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. The blast ripped through a municipal building in Sadr City before a neighborhood council meeting Tuesday morning. The meeting brought together civilian leaders and officers from the brigade. It was organized to pick a chairman for a district advisory council in the densely populated slum district filled with supporters of militant cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. Lt. Col. Steve Stover, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Baghdad said the bomb appeared to target the main candidate for the post. In an e-mail to The Gazette, Maj. Michael Humphreys wrote, "CW3 Rob Hammett was a great man ... we are all deeply saddened by his death. We currently have three suspects detained, who we believe to have ties to the bombing and we will find the person responsible and bring them to justice." A second soldier, Maj. Dwayne M. Kelley, 48, of Willingboro, N.J., was also killed in the explosion. Hammett is the 33rd soldier with the 3rd Brigade and the 239th with a Fort Carson unit to die in Iraq since the invasion in March 2003. He joined the Army in March 1990 and had been in the 3rd BCT since July 2005. He was serving his third deployment in the Middle East. Hammett had been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal
