the candle flickers

upon the tables center

its light painting shadows

across this empty room

Sitting at the table

are two chairs

one full, one still yet empty

was not the clues set in place

could she not see inside

has she yet passed by

uncertainty blurs the mind

the restaurant still open

its sign reads come in take a sit

i swear I left a note

it was place somewhere

we both could see

if not for hope, one would check and see

but with the passing moments hope slowly pulls from me

like the men who has taken the chair away

to add an accompanying sit

did she look could she see

the thoughts linger like fog

leering across the mountains

to stand up to walk away

to have never know

what may happen

so with a rose and a napkin

composed this note

left  it, upon the table

with eternal yours and waiting

etched in to the chair beneath me
