“Stone Angel”
Everyday she walks the same path,
Through the trees... across the stream,
To a clearing with a solitary figure,
She stops and looks, the figure breaks her heart
Kneeling so alone upon fallen knee,
Wings torn,
The stone angel has lost his silent war,
So he was left to die,
Turned to stone by the night's dark sky,
Arms held out as if awaiting a tender embrace,
A cold, dark tear upon his face.
She moves within an inch,
As if she found a sudden hitch,
Warm loving arms envelope his angelic shoulders,
A tear falls to his face,
Suddenly there is movement,
His frozen tear falls,
Torn wings arch and heal, become whole,
Frozen arms move around the girl who saved him,
His features held for so long move...
Eyes open to look apon this mortal who ended his silent war with love.
He holds her, wings move to envelop them both.
She cries long tears that come for the angel who now falls in pain,
His stone agony has kept him alive,
Now with the spell broken, his wounds continue to bleed
He lies on his back wings still,
His eyes open looking within the girl's soul,
She begs him not to go, for her soul lies within his dying heart.
He moves a hand to her cheek and brings her lips to his,
A tender kiss... their first and last,
The freed angel dies, his lips pressed to hers,
His body slowly fades, a stone feather left behind.
Within the arms of a stone clad figure she found her love,
The few moments they had were etched in stone.
