Okay here is a little backround story.......
I recently had a beautiful baby boy. When I found out I was pregnant his father kicked me out and I moved 1200 miles back home. He didn't want anything to do with the baby claiming he wasn't ready to be a father and did and said some really nasty things. He is currently in school 1200 miles away and is a fulltime student and not working. Since the baby has been born he has been much more involved and is acting like a father. Things are much better now even though he is so far away. He calls, emails, and texts me right back whenever I need to talk to him and he even talks to the baby over the phone. Though things are better and he has finally come around, I am struggling to pay for things. Essentially all I wanted was for my son to know his father but being a single mom and being out of work on leave has been really hard. I am nervous that if I go for child support now that he will withdraw himself from my son's life but I could use the help. I have also contemplated whether or not I should wait until he is done with school to file for support.
My question is....Should I file for support now or should I wait until later? |
