I enjoy watching hummingbirds come to the feeders I have hanging on my front porch. And I do get quite alot of them stopping by to enjoy the red nectar.
Notice if you will I said "red" nectar... :)
Our pu is red.. and being it is so hot , I leave it parked with the windows down during the day.
One particular day tho I needed to make a run to the grocery store and hopped into the dodge. As I was buckling myself up and putting in the key to start the pu up; I heard a strange noise in backseat.
As I turned my head ever so slowly to the right to see what was in the backseat, thinking that my teenager had put something in back to startle me.. yes he loves to startle me, no wonder I am so gray headed, lol but we are getting off track here.
I see out of the corner of my eye, something fluttering against the side window, it was one of the hummingbirds, wanting out, now my side windows on the pickup even tho are open are not big enough for the bird to escape..
As I reach back to open the back window wider, the darn little critter flutterd near my hand.. now yes, the little creature is scared but did he have to startle me?
My teenager comes out to be my rescuer, yeah right, he reaches in and moves his hand out quickly wanting to know if the bird can "bite"!
When I said no; he reaches in again to catch the little bird and ends up knocking the little creature unconsicous..
the hummer lived, so not to worry, once he came to he flew off. And now my red dodge doesn't look so interesting as "red" nectar.
