Remember Me

If I have left a memory, and my name is called, do not weep, For i am with you in full spirit, I do not sleep. Dancing with the eternal winds that blow, i am the diamond glint in the fresh autumn snow. When gentle sunlight dancing on ripened grain field, Or a warm autumn rain that deep in your heart you felt. When you awaken in the morning silent hush, let me be your swift uplifing rush. Like a quiet bird in high circling flight, And the warmth of a soft summer night. Do not think of our days lost, with tears that cared But remember our joys and all the love we shared. The years past has made a mark deep into my soul, I have been taught to be graceful turning old. I have no regrets for the life i have lived or what i have done. I put myself equal to others, but second to none, And always holding the great spirit as nimber one...
I'm Not Indian, I Am Cherokee Dark storm clouds come across my eyes, when you address me that way. I will be correcting that problem right now, you will heed the words I say. Once upon a time our tribal nation was strong, back before the white man came. White man told us many lies to gain our trust, then took everything but our name. White man almost killed off all the buffalo, trying to starve us off our land. After many moons we were forced to move, just like your kind had planned. Soon the white man had stolen all of our land, my people left behind a trail of tears. White man killed off my ancestors sacred ways, we're living on reservations in fear. White man, haven't you already taken enough? I want back some of my dignity. You will no longer address me as 'hey, indian', 'I'm not Indian, I am Cherokee.'
Cherokee people, Cherokee pride. So proud to live, So proud to die. We Cherokee will never Forget The Trail of Tears. That trail runs through us all, Runs through us till the day we die. We pray to The Great Spirit To watch over us all. For he knows the trails we walk And will guide our footsteps gently. We pray The Great spirit will Lead us back to our lands. We pray that what was taken From us will be returned once again. We will build our nation stronger, Stand tall and give our all. For We are Cherokee, The proudest nation of them all. Cherokee people, Cherokee pride. So proud to live, So proud to die.

Through The Dream Catcher

Like woven words they come into my room each night, Increasing, never ceasing, until the morning light. Happy, joyous thoughts and dreams of stately things, slip through the Dream Catcher as if on angel wings. Entering my state of slumber as I lay upon my bed, no bad dream can enter ... caught by the Dream Catcher instead. *The Ojibwe Nation was the originator of the Dream Catcher.

Cherokee Rose

Cherokee Rose ~Marge Tindal~ © 1999 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She goes by the name of Cherokee Rose. A symbol of suffering wherever she grows. A flower so pretty, in all of her glory shown. A reminder of the tears shed where she's grown. The white of the flower signifies the mothers tears. On The Trail where they cried while giving in to fears. The gold of the center to mark the land taken from the Cherokee and passed to another's hand. Seven petals to form the flower, for the seven Cherokee clans, forced to walk The Trail and to leave their land. They call her Cherokee Rose. A legend in the making. The symbol of hope on the walk they were taking. Along the Trail Of Tears you will see The Cherokee Rose in all her glory. Something so pretty to represent, a tale so sad, the misery long spent. Cherokee Rose still grows along The Trail Of Tears, to remind us of the hope they had through those years. Cherokee Rose with all your beauty retained, you stand as a symbol of what we will regain. Cherokee Rose, the symbol of peace. Long may you flourish until the pain does ease

Spirit Song

Spirit Song The Spirit's song was lost in me, my heart was sinking low, I drifted on the winds of change, I had nowhere to go, But, then you came and with your voice, you spoke in tones of soft, That in my heart, I found my choice, you set this bird aloft. The eagle soared above my head, my spirit guide was free, I felt the pull but could not reach, he was too high for me, But, then you came, and lifted me, with love as pure as light, My feet left the ground, you gifted me, again you gave me flight. I could not say I'd ever reach, the goals I once had held, I knew for me there was no use, my spirit was impaled. But, then you came, and freed my soul, you righted what was wrong, You are my dream, you made me whole, you are the Spirit's Song SpiritWalker

Trail of Tears

In Memory of "The Trail of Tears" Trail of Tears Written by Anegawaya The long horrid path that our people passed, Walking for days on end, Realizing that things don't last, Even broken hearts can't sometimes mend, Walking and trying to survive, Some just dying along the way, From starvation, and sickness, Try walking that trail today, Some had been shot, Some had been stabbed, The winter so cold, but the sun so hot, Some of the children were even dragged, They walked along the same trail, As if the journey would never stop, You could hear their little wails, And than they would drop, Such a time should have never been, For so many have cried, Such a long and narrow trend, Hard to believe how many have died, We will always remember Our People, The ones that took this Trail of Tears, And when you pray to the Creator, So many people don't even care, That we are all supposed to love each other, In this world great and small, For we are all sisters and brothers, So you should always have a listening ear, To hear your brothers call

Mother Earth

Mother Earth Written by Anegawaya The beautiful trees that sway in the wind, The waters flowing ever so gently, The grass so green and bright, The flowers so pretty, The mountains so high that reach the sky, The clouds so white way up high, The birds that sing beautiful songs, With the sun glowing ever so brightly, The sky so clear, and being so blue, Everything so right as it should be, Our Mother Earth so beautiful, As an eye can see, But our Mother Earth is also neglected, For so many are tearing her apart, Which makes a lot of us sad, And destroying our hearts, Cutting our forests, So animals can't eat, Dirtying up the skies, So you can't even see, Garbage everywhere, that the grass dies, Walking around like it's nothing, And making up excuses, In which they are all lies, Waters are at to where you can't drink, Killing the fish so they can't even live, Destroying the land as they go, Poor Mother Earth has taken an undertow, We need to protect Our Mother Earth, Before it's too late, We are destroying ourselves, How much more Mother Earth can take
