National Heart Association - Red Day GO RED.... Today is The Go Red Heart Check Up for women challenge. As you know I am a surivor of a double bypass back in June '06. I now and will always have Heart disease. Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women in America followed closely by cancer. Please take a few minutes out of your busy day to visit the National Heart Association page and take the check up test. It is a 10 year assessment to help women calculate their risk of heart disease and how to prevent it. It's a great site where you can learn qbout foods and exercise. Believe me you would rather pervent it then be oblivious to the effects. It will only take a few minutes of your time, and if your here whats the problem ? Still not convinced ? If you have someone near and dear to your life, weither it be a parent, sibling, lover or child think of them. What a gift for them to make the one they love healthier. I wish I had been given the information I now know about sooner. Please don't wait til you almost die. It's never really to late to try to do our bodies good - as long as we catch it before the end.. Believe me you do not want to go thru a bypass. They have made remarkable strides in this field no doubt but it's no picnic. Mine was an emergancy because I was so bad I wasa given but 30 minutes to live. In the normal you are scheduled for surgery 2 weeks before and put on a strict diet to prepare you for the surgery, and things go much slower and planed. Mine was an emergancy and I was not allowed that comfort. I was life flighted strait into the operating room and out. I met my suregon afterwards. They shoved a tube down my throat and one up my nose. I was put on a ventulator to help keep me alive. As one team was removing veins from my inner leg the suregon was using a rib spreader to rip open my chest. I had a great surgical team. My vein from my leg repair my clogged artery while a vein the removed from my chest repair the main artery that collasped. You know to this day there is a numbness there, and may always be. You still feel the pain but it's numb. A very strange feeling. Recovery isn't all to fun either. My hardest thing was walking again I think. When they remove part of your vein from your leg that means you have to resize or streach it back out. OUCH! You can't do anything...You teddy bear becomes your bestfriend and you thank god everyday that you still get to see your loved ones. And ladies weither they tell you or not. The bigger your boobs the more pain..They need them out of their way in surgery and afterwards the weight is nearly unbearable as your sternum tries to heal. I still have problems and will always have the disease. If I can help one woman to take a look and prevent it I'll be happy...ENJOY life....Take the check up.... Please visit www.americanheart.org and read a little and do the check up...Men if you love your women and want them to be around awhile take 'em there... God bless all of you and wear something red today please..And if you read this leave a comment so I know who my smart friends are,lol....Love ya guys...
