I've posted a link to a site that's trying (with others) to raise public awareness on the plight of former service personnel down in Ashtead (UK).
Like many on CherryTap/Fubar, I am a former soldier.
Unlike many, I was lucky to go through my tours, leaving with my bits and pieces intact and very few head problems (apart from I already had).
There is a rehabilitation centre in the South of England called Headley Court, it is often the first port of call for servicemen and women returning home after being wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
It is the only one the British have, (thanks to government cutbacks).
Soldiers who may have lost limbs or suffered severe trauma spend months rebuilding their lives at the centre.
An Armed Forces charity decided to buy a £ 1.7million six-bedroom house nearby so visiting relatives would have somewhere to stay, the well-heeled neighbours in Ashtead, Surrey, launched their own offensive.
Basically telling these soldiers and their families, that they are not welcome.
Like many others formerly in a green suit, I've lost mates, I have mates who are missing limbs, others have massive trauma and severe mental problems.
And I for one am sick to my stomach of hearing about this sort of nonsense, I am having a real problem trying to understand how these people can be so uncharitable, to the very people who gifts these ingrates the ability to walk and talk freely.
Now I realise the vast majority of users on here are American, and you might be wondering..."why should I help out these Brits...their food's crap...their weather's crap...all they do is play soccer (badly) and fight?"
British service personnel generally work alongside their US counterparts, and there are more than a few cases involving British soldiers, who at great risk to their own lives, have fought and saved the lives of their American Brethren...several have been decorated by both the US and British Military for bravery.
So...If any of you lovely people would care to take a few minutes to view this, read about the situation at Headley Court...and perhaps sign the guest book...I'll give you all the soul of my first born child (time share basis only)
