Yes my daughter had her audition for American Idol, and she didn't make it which I am still just as proud of her anyway... not important, but the reasoning s and what goes on at these are a whole other story. We spent 5 hours Monday in line and getting inside to register for this audition, and that went fine they give you a seat ticket for the one auditioning and one person friend or parent there for you.
Today Aug 13, 2008 we got there again at 5 am to find out the rules that say there will be no camping out or early line up was broke by hundreds so by the time we got there the line was as long as it could possibly go. It rained and we got wet.. but made in inside the Arena.
When they do the auditions the have 24 producers that they split up and put two at each desk about 20 ft apart with a small partition wall between them. This is all set up in the center of the arena. They divide the people auditioning into 4 lines in front of each desk, so each group is judged by a differ set of producers, and the downfall is that you could audition for one and not make it and could have auditioned for a differ one and made it through... This is still not a major thing, but seems a little unfair.
The unfair part is what we witnessed, and that is the fact that there were some that were excellent and didn't make it... then there was those that could not sing, and just because they did something stupid or funny they passed them through, because these are how they get the ones that get the attention on the advertisements of the show and that is what I feel is a shame that some get their dream smashed because they want to pass someone through that isn't even talented. I guess this is just the way it works...
