So the start of another Cleveland Browns season is here, and boy am I ready to rock. I love Pro-Football and i love the Browns.
Having moved to Cleveland as a 10 year old in 1986, I was not a big football fan. I loved baseball and the RedSox. When I move here from Northern Connecticut, I started to watch the Browns, and Bernie Kosar saved me, that Browns team made me into a big fan. When the Browns played their last down in 1995, my heart was broken. The Browns came back in 1999, and in the 8 years they have played, they have sucked that love into something closer to a bad taco dinner.
That being said, I do not see this years team doing any better the 6-10, my felling is based on these problems that I have seen.
1. The Defense still looks like it will have trouble stopping the run
2. The poor quarterback play (from everyone not with the last name of Quinn)
3. The Corners are still a big question mark (can they cover, can they not cover)
4. Lack of push from the defensive line
5. An overrated safety corps, and a complete lack of depth at safety.
6. Coach Romeo Crennell not being a good leader or a good game planer
Overall, the offensive line looks much better, Jamel Lewis looks like he may have a good season, the offensive play calling should be better, and the Browns have a good core of linebackers. Plus at some point we will get to see Brady Quinn grow, and the line should be able to protect him when he gets in.
Jamal Lewis has looked good in practice, but that was against the Browns defense, and he has always been able to do that, you know run well against the Browns defense. I love Kellen Winslow, and Kamerion Wimbley to make the Pro-Bowl. The Browns I feel will be 2-6 at the bye (week 7) and then for the rest of the Season the team will be driven by Brady Quinn, and will get better as the season goes on. If Quinn gets to start earlier then that, the Browns could go as high as 8-8, I believe he could be that much of a difference.
All and all, I hope for a good season, and I hope the Browns do well, and I will cheer for them every week. I am also tired of this team losing. I am tired of "maybe next year".
