When you hear the word, "Cancer" a million thoughts and emotions run through you..fear, uncertainty of what the future may hold, sorrow, shock, loneliness, confusion..how will you and your family deal with this situation..
Those are some of the emotions and thoughts that I had when i was told in 2003 that I had cysts in my ovaries and that I may have ovarian cancer. I had multiple cysts on each side ..one the size of a softball.. I had to have surgery a few weeks after finding out all of this information. Luckily, I did not have cancer .. but that was just the beginning to what would happen in the next following years.
One of my relatives that I hold very close to my heart she was one of the kindest, most caring, loving person I have ever known and she was also a strong woman and I am glad to have had her for as long as I had she is my grandmother..she had cancer three times in her life..yet she fought each time she was faced with this. In December of 2007 we found out she had terminal cancer..She fought and kept smiling each day teaching us life lessons ..even if we didn't know it at the time..she would have her good days as well as her bad...July of 2008 her condition deteriorated..August 29th, 2008 I was by her bedside along with my sisters, my mother..as well as other relatives..our family stuck together for her ..watching her take that last breath was one of the most precious, defining moment of my life. I was in sorrow because I had lost a best friend, a teacher, a great grandmother..but I was also happy that she wouldn't have to suffer through the pain she had felt for so long.
As i wrote this blog ..I cried..remembering those experiences and how today I am a much more stronger person ..and how Cancer can affect a persons life...I am a strong supporter of finding a cure. So everyone please donate to these foundations and lets make something positive out of something that is portrayed as something negative. Show the ladies in your life that you love and support them because you never know when something so shocking and life changing can happen.

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month ..so please tell those special women in your life that you care about them as well as support them.
