I just posted this in my status and I don't think it all was shown. So basically in a nutshell this is what I put.
I served in the United States Marine Corps and the Navy. I did this for 25 yrs. I was fortunate to serve with the finest warriors we have in the world and I'm not just saying this I truly mean this. Over the past ten years I've attended more funerals than I care to think about. I know that they are looking down with a sense of pride in their contribution/sacrifice to this country On this Memorial Day. When you thank a veteran, please make it a point to seek out their family. Especially their kids. These young people didn't ask for this like they were born into and support their parents with Rock star status ( as they should). Wives and husband suddenly a single parent while controlling the day to days at home. And those families who has lost a service member. You raised a special bread of person on with honor duty and sacrifice instilled in them. I know this because I'm a product of those generations where they did have a choice to serve, it was expected if them. They ended up in god forsaken places like Normandy, the Chosen Reservoir, Khe Shan, and the deserts of the Middle East. These men and women continue to make this nation special.
So on this picnic/three day weekend please remember the people and there families. It was a pleasure serving with you and for you. Seek out a Veteran and their family and thank them for serving.
