MARDI GRAS
Mardi Gras, the greatest show in the world and it's free
this show can get a little crazy, but it's for regular people like you and me
On the parade route you can walk for miles until you get a blister
to join in on the fun, to be part of the show, all you have to say is, throw me somethin' mister
You get there early to get a spot up front for you to stay
then the parade gets close and a sea of bodies washes you away
There are pretty girls, bands, and floats that throw doubloons, cups, and beads
there are hot dogs, peanuts, and cotton candy, but there may not be a place to pee
As the floats pass, throw me somethin' mister is all you have to say
just have fun and you'll have loads of Mardi Gras trinkets by the end of the day
But if you want the good stuff, something better than the rest
and if you happen to be female, all you have to do is show your breast
Mardi Gras is not for the shy and is not for the meek
the crowds will pack you in shoulder to shoulder and cheek to cheek
To catch the throws you might have to jump high and you might have to get low
as you pursue your treasure, someone will take it from your fingertips if you move to slow
Mardi Gras is a time that you can dress up and be whatever you want to be
you can be a king or a queen, a cowboy, a stripper, you can be your wildest fantasy
At Mardi Gras you can play and do what you need to set yourself free
what happens at Mardi Gras, stays at Mardi Gras and that is the key
You can dance to the music of the bands as they march on by
you can stand on a ladder so you can reach up high
You can get up early, get you a spot, and catch the parade where it begins
then you can move down the road, maneuver through the crowd and catch it again
There are parades to be found on the Westbank with plenty to see
across the river there is fun to be had walking the streets of old Metairie
If you want to catch a coconut from Zulu, or toast King Rex, then uptown is the place to be
If you want something wild, take a walk down Bourbon Street and see tits for free
Mardi Gras is about having fun, you can be part of the show or just watch the sights
no matter what part of town you choose to party, like Cinderella, Fat Tuesday ends a midnight
Whether you were in the middle of the crowds or if you walked the parade like it was a stroll
you need to do what the Cajuns say, “Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulez” let the good times roll
