Love

1 Corinthians 13 (NKJ)

     Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
     And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
      And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, it profits me nothing.
     Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
     does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
     does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
     bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

     Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
     For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
     But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
     When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
     For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
     And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Ok, so if love is to be all these things...then why do we insist on puting limits & guidlines for what someone else needs to do to earn our love.  Shouldn't we just start by loving...& then take things as they come???  I mean we are all human & we are all gonna make mistakes, right???  So why is it that i find more often than not that we want to be so called, indian givers, with our love???  For example, you tell someone you love them & then at ur first slip up...they are yelling & telling you that you have to change or fix it...they never stop to ask or find out why it is you did what u did...just stop & think for a moment...if everyone would just ask first instead of judge..there would be alot less misunderstandings & alot less heartache...love is not a word that should be thrown around so carelessly...we are all to love one another...going back to the saying, "do unto others as you would have them do to you"...so that uses a certain amount of care or love...then there is the love, like you love ur mom, ur brother, ur cat & so on...then we come to the romatical love...the love you have for someone cuz you like them for who they are & everything they are...when you can't stand to be without that person...this is the person that you are to love unconditionaly...this means you love them no matter what they do..they way a dog loves you even after you back your car over thier front paws...(i have done this)...yet they still look into your eyes later that night as if to say, " its ok i forgive you & still love you"...you are their everything...

so how is it we can say we love someone..& then get so upset cuz of some dumb computer site, or game...not stoping to ask the other person what they were thinking or why they did what they did...cuz maybe there was a good reason...cuz as my parents always told me, "to assume is to make an ass out of you & me"...

or how is it..that you can say you love someone & that you are willing to make an effort to start over..& then you just hide away & talk to other people other than the person you were supposed to be getting to know...

what about when you make a mistake...when your just having a clumsy day..& you drop a pizza...why can we not just give that person some grace if we really love them..instead of getting mad & blaming them...there could have been a good reason as to why the pizza was dropped...maybe a possible burn...or other injury...wouldn't that be more important than the pizza??? i mean im just saying...

so lets really honestly asses our feelings of love for others...is it a love cuz they can do something for you...is it a lust & not really a love...or is it a truely deep love...a love where it doesn't matter what the other person does...you just love them for who they are...not asking them to change...just loving them...all of them...
