Love, Hate, and the Web

I recently heard about a man on cherry tap, that had an online girl friend uhhh...cheat on him. And as sad as this would sound, he seemed to take it in great stride. Interestingly online dating, versus dating and relationships in the real world, are quite close. In both worlds two people meet while participating in activies of similar interests, much like going to the bar and meeting. They communicate for a while either by talking face to face, or typing or camming or voice chat. In the bar you have better odds of getting laid (though some would argue cybering would be the equivilant. I'll discuss this later perhaps). Then they say good night each go their own seperate ways and call it a night. They may even continue on like this for an extended amount of time, hours a day and even daily for weeks and months. This can easily give the appearance of closeness, and possibly spark emotions. These people have become your friends, and friends don't put restraints on friends. This however is not the case of love. Love crave boundries, promises, and expectations. If you love someone, you are supposed to love only them, you can like everyone else, but only love them. You are to be honest about them, and be for them in everything done. This can't be found no the internet, I've been on for about 10 years. I have played, and have been played. I have been what others wanted me to be, and made others be what I wanted. Is it realistic to expect people in a world designed for entertainment, a world away from the reality, a world so easily molded to be what is desired, to expect all of the rule of love to be upheld? Is an online love supposed to honestly be able to withstand real world temptations? Or will I find that I have been kept seperate from the real world, and been the fantasy counterpart for a real world lover? Does this form of love and relationships online fully give those involved all that is needed. In real life I can hold the person I love, I can express much more than words, I don't have to go to bed alone if I don't desire to. Isn't the internet closer to being the new age pen pale system instead of the new singles community. Allowing us to communicate quickly and easily with people we would normally have never met. But love should be left to those within distance to meet, to interact frequently, and to eventually form a union. Personally, if there isn't a chance to eventually choose the same path in life, people shouldn't be more than friends. I guess in short, perhaps we and our pen pals should quit tying to play house and learn our boundries. Stop the fantasy romances, quit taking the easy way out, and learn how to put up with the negative aspects of loving someone also. Choose your relationships wisely!
