NEWARK — Police may be closer to finding the person responsible for a Tuesday night fatal shooting of a pizza delivery man on Jefferson Street. Police released a composite sketch of a "person of interest" in a 4 a.m. Tuesday robbery of an Incredible Pizza driver on South Pine Street. During that incident a delivery man was robbed by three white men, one of which had a handgun. ADVERTISEMENT Newark Police Acting Chief Al Zellner said that robbery may be related to an 11:30 p.m. apparent robbery attempt Tuesday that took the life of Robert A. Swick, 41, of Newark. Both incidents included a bogus pizza order to an existing address. Licking County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of those involved in the incidents. Swick, who was delivering pizza for Papa John’s to a Jefferson Street address, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest. Zellner said the department hasn’t charged anyone, and declined to comment on any suspects in either Tuesday incident. “There’s nothing else to release,” he said. “I think the investigation is making process.” Police are searching for young white man that may have been involved the robberies of two pizza drivers Tuesday. He is described as being in his teens to early 20s, 5’7” to 5’8” tall, slender build and short hair. He was seen wearing a blue hooded zip-up sweatshirt and a red ball cap with white accents, according to a press release issued by Licking County Crime Stoppers. In the South Pine Street robbery, the men ran from the scene with around $200 cash and other items. Zellner said Wednesday Swick still had money on him when authorities found him. A neighbor called 911 Tuesday night after he saw the delivery man laying on the sidewalk outside 58 Jefferson St. The company said Swick was delivering to that address, but no one there ordered a pizza. Papa John’s in Heath re-opened today. Anyone with information about Tuesday night’s shooting may call Newark police at (740) 670-7215 or Licking County Crime Stoppers at (888) 488-9058. A coding system protects the identity of the caller but allows the reward to be issued later. If the caller testifies at grand jury, the reward might be doubled.
