The day our lips first touched,
I knew I made a mistake.
I knew I would fall in love with you,
And let my heart be yours to take.
But, as the months went by,
I knew you loved me too
And all my worries faded away
Because I thought I could never lose you.
You always made me smile.
Whenever I would cry,
You would hold me close in your arms
And never leave my side.
After a while,
We both realized
Just how hard it would be
For us to say all our goodbyes.
I was going away to college,
And there was nothing you could do.
We tried so hard to stay together,
But it just ended up hurting you.
We made so many memories
And I know I'll never forget
All the times that we shared,
All the moments I won't regret.
You knew my favorite ice cream.
I knew your favorite cologne.
We knew all about each other
And thought we'd never end up alone.
But, now we must both move on.
It will be for the best I know.
There was a time when we had each other
But now we have to just let go.
