July... a time to celebrate
If there are reasons to be optimistic, July must be one of them.
For lovers of warm weather, July marks the pinnacle of summer. A look
at
the calendar shows only three more months before the snow starts flying
in the mountains. Baseball is in full swing, and football teams are
revving up and refining their rosters.
It's no wonder that Julius Caesar gave his name to this month.
This month begins with celebrating the independence of the U.S. While
the fireworks erupted in the skies over our towns and cities, other
countries also observed their Independence Day in July. These nations
include Somalia, Rwanda and Burundi (July 1); Venezuela (July 5);
Malawi
(July 6); Argentina (July 9); Columbia (July 20); and Peru (July 20).
For those celebrating their birthdays this month, surrounding
themselves
with water lilies or larkspur (the flowers associated with July) while
receiving a gift of rubies (the birthstone) might be appropriate...
although perhaps a bit too theatrical. Maybe a barbecue in the backyard
is more suitable with some ice cream for dessert... July is National
Ice
Cream Month after all.
