Operation USO Care Package
Jack Daniel’s “Toast the Troops” campaign is designed to encourage its patrons to send a message of gratitude or “toasts” to America’s armed forces currently serving overseas—away from their families, friends and the comforts of home. Since 2004, Jack Daniel’s has partnered with the Operation USO Care Package program to sponsor, stuff and send more than 70,000 care packages to deployed service members. Additionally, tens of thousands of toasts were included in care packages.
Due to heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages marked for delivery to "Any Service Member." Recognized by the Department of Defense, the Operation USO Care Package program is the way to support and send a message of thanks to our troops for their service and sacrifice. Space is provided for you to write a personal message of support to the service member who will receive your USO care package.
Jack Daniel’s hosts special “stuffing parties” that allow Jack Daniel’s employees, military spouses and volunteers to assemble care packages. Care package stuffing parties have been held at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Gillem, Georgia; Fort Hood, Texas; Naval Air Station North Island, California; Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Florida; and Quantico Marine Base, Virginia.
The USO delivers these “toasts” to service members deploying to Afghanistan, Iraq and other overseas locations.
The Operation USO Care Package program began in 2003 and has distributed more than 1.3 million care packages. The USO sends approximately 15,000 packages a month to deployed service members! At a minimum, each care package can contain a personalized message of support from the donor, an AT&T prepaid international phone card, snacks, playing cards, reading material, camo kits, which contain shampoo, conditioner, sunblock, hand sanitizer, tooth paste, tooth brush, sunscreen and other requested and needed items.
