This one is mostly for people who live in the USA but anyone can comment if they want. While the Federal government is offering better breaks in taxes for the middle class incomes many of the states are raising sales taxes on everything they can get away with. In California we got hit with new sales taxes on cigarettes (75 cents per pack) and related items like cigarette lighters. On soft drinks and booze, some entertainment items and adult clubs, and day by day we get hit with another boost in sales taxes on something or another.
Not all pirates sail ships out of Africa my friends. This is tea-ing me off (pun intended). All this happening right when we got lots of new people who were laid off from their jobs or struggling to hang on to their houses. It is as if the states are in direct conflict with the new Obama plan to save the slumping economic situation here.
Now more taxes would be justified if the money created new jobs or could be used to make better schools and social programs. But no, they are cutting back the budgets to all those areas where it is needed the most n these trying times.
Some how I could care less if they can balance the stupid state budget or not... we need to lower the cost of living instead of making it worse with these new sales taxes.
The question is "is your state bombarding you with higher sales taxes"?
