Intro

I would like to share my knowledge of indoor and out door hydro and organic growing techniques. These can be applied to just about any type plant and a great way to have a fresh supply of organic free Herbs, Vegetables, and Flowers. Please feel free to add comments and techniques that you have learned through your own experience. Please keep negative comments and un-kindly banter out of my blog thanks. I would like to give a simply and effective way to make all Organic fertilizer for hydro and Soil/ Soil-less mixes. Supplies needed: 1. 5 Gal. bucket (new) 2. 55 Gal. NEW trash can or tank. 3. Lawn waste (leaves and) Kitchen by products i.e. Veggie peels and cores (no seeds) Fish skin and insides, egg shells, etc. 4. One aquarium air stone and pump. 5. Rope and pulley system. 6. One cup of Night crawlers (worms) 7. Organic Blood/Bone meal, Bird or bat guano. First drill ¼’’ holes all around the 5 gal. Bucket, about two inches apart. Then add all of your worms and lawn/ kitchen by products with a cup the Bone and Blood meal each over a few months. You must remember to stir and mix the Bucket three to four times a week, taking care not to kill the worms. When your bucket is full and has time to sit out side for a few weeks, you will notices the break down of the matter in the bucket, the worms will help to speed this process up. Give the matter a good stir to make sure the material is about 90% decomposed. I like to then use a ¼’’ chicken wire screen to help save the worms and remove any un-decomposed matter to be added later to the next bucket. Next I fill my 55 Gal. tank/ can with fresh preferred distilled H2O, but tap will work so long as you allow time for the chlorine to gas off and it is at a PH of 6.5-7.0. With the pulley and rope I make a pulley system over the Tank and center the rope to drop into the center of the tank. I then fasten the air stone and line to the bottom of the 5 Gal. bucket, with the stone hanging at least 14inches past the bottom of the bucket with enough air tube to allow the pump to be safely placed away from the tank. Remember electricity and water and be a deadly combination. You then want to re-add the finished matter which we’ll now call an Organic tea blend back to the bucket with the holes. Tie the end of the rope that hangs into the tank to the 5 Gallon, and suspend it into the tank just enough to leave three inches of the bucket above the surface of the tank water, and turn on the air pump. Allow the tea to sit for 48-72 hours or until the water has changed color and has taken an earthy smell to it. Check the PH make sure you are with in your mark of, 6.0 -7.0 PH. Keep the mix at about 75 degrees during the whole process and after. You can then add them to air tight containers and set in a double boiler with caps off and heat to 180 degrees and quickly cap and ice bath them to help vacuum seal and keep helpful bacteria at bay until needed, not to mention the odor of good Organic fertilizer. Keep out of sun light and store in a dark cool place that won’t freeze. This tea can be used as is for trees and adult plants, you can dilute it 5-1 H2O/Fertilizer, as a foliar feed, Hydroponic, and seedling. Have fun and good luck Please feel free to share how you keep it Organic! ~Shaman
