mum expired. [EVERYONE]

one of my best friends has just been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer mestatized to the brain.
I've requested home time from my job, hopefully I get there pretty quick.
I'm not really sure what to do for her right now, I'm at a loss for words, she is just 46.

Do I ignore bringing up the cancer and just go hang out like nothing is wrong, tends to be the way she handels things?

Or do I deal with this head on and get her to deal with reality?
