The NFL power rankings for week 9 are pretty simple now. In all the NFL power rankings for week 9, the Saints, Colts and Vikings are ahead. Still, although there is a Manning theme on top of the NFL power rankings, Eli Manning's team is rapidly slipping to the middle. The Giants' third straight loss leaves them at a pretty low spot in most NFL power rankings for week 9, likely at the borderline of the top 10. In any case, the Giants may not be in a position to catch the Saints and Colts for a while.
The Vikings are at about a solid third in most NFL power rankings, after Brett Favre once again broke Green Bay's heart. Given the latest round of Favre worship, and how the Saints and Colts struggled, some might be tempted to put the Vikings at No. 2 or even No. 1, despite having one loss. But the Vikings at least leaped past the Denver Broncos again, after Denver got thumped for the first time at Baltimore.
With the Broncos now no longer unbeaten, the NFL power rankings for week 9 have three clear cut teams on top. Behind them, the rest of the contenders are struggling to stay consistent, although the Steelers and Patriots are lurking around at 5 2. The Eagles made a big leap after destroying the Giants, but will have another big test against the Cowboys for the NFC East lead on Sunday night.
As the midseason approaches, here is the top of the NFL power rankings in week 9.

Earlier this week, I looked at some notable performances from the NFL Scouting Combine on offense that I thought might be relevant to the Lions. So now, Authentic Devin Street Jersey I shall turn my attention to the defense, where the Lions have more needs.
The most talked about performance from the Combine involved a defensive player, but he isn't likely to be on Detroit's radar, since he plays defensive tackle. Where Detroit isn't set, however, is cornerback, a position I think the Lions likely may target in the first round. He had the sixth best 40 time for cornerbacks, and his overall workout was quite good. So, there are character issues. If there weren't, there is likely no way he would be there at 23 for the Lions to take him. However, now there is a chance, if Detroit is willing to take a risk.
Josh Robinson from Central Florida had the fastest 40 time, 4.33, and he was also a top performer in both the broad jump and vertial jump. So, later in the Draft, he could be worth a shot, because clearly he is a top notch athlete.

An inside linebacker, he was one of the top performers, and the top performer, in several events, including the 40 yard dash. There is a chance the Lions could take a defensive end, although it seems very likely they keep Cliff Avril around for at least this season, but it probably won't be in the first round. Bruce Irvin was far and away the fastest player, his 4.50 40 yard dash was over a tenth of a second faster than anybody else, but he is a future outside linebacker in a 3 4. Whitney Mercilus, on the other hand, was one of the top performers during the season, and also had a solid Combine. The Lions would probably have to take him in the second round, however. I don't think Detroit would take a defensive end before the third round, a place where they once took Avril.
The Combine is over, and now pro days will begin. Detroit will hone in on a handful of players, and in less than two months the Lions will start drafting players. Will some of these players be among these top Combine performers? I bet they take at least one player I named in these two articles. I look forward to seeing if that is the case.
However, the loss of Sydney Rice will be too much to overcome this early in the season and New Orleans still has too much offensive fire power. Look for the Saints to take a close one that will not be decided until the fourth quarter. Tennessee will win rather easily. However, with the return of Wes Welker, as solid 8 catch a game slot receiver, and the always dangerous Randy Moss, coupled with Tom Brady, there is too much for Cincinnati to overcome. Look for them to drop a close won. Look for Cleveland to take it in the end, they have a better defense and a slightly more productive offense. Pair these two with their real weapon, Josh Cribbs, and they will win this game. Indianapolis is going to come out firing to prove that they still have the pieces in place to make another super bowl run, and will win a close one with Houston here. An upstart Lions team will take advantage of these struggles and open their season with a shocking win. While I do not buy into this logic, I do think they have the pieces to get passed a Steelers team that will struggle the first four weeks without a true starting quarterback. Atlanta wins rather easily. Miami Women's Logan Thomas Jersey wins rather easily in a game that is over shortly after half time. The Giants have made great strides on the defensive side of the ball while Carolina is much the same team they were last year. Look for the Giants to exact the revenge they seek through a win.
