Born in the urban community streets of NYC, hip hop took its first step into life of change. Beat boxing in the playground yards, bboyin' & bgirlin' on top of cardboard in front of corner stores, recreating a building through tag lines and remarkable unique graffiti beauty, and flowing poetry through bars of grace. hip hop was seen as an icon, a landmark of a youths struggle in society and the ins and outs of everyday life. It wasnt about money, cars,clothes, or what the hottest glock to buy is. It was about the essence and the purity of spoken words that could flow in sync to become the most unbelievable & influential way of expression. As time progressed, the change of era and the blend of different souls mixing together, hip hop turned into a chameleon . It blended with its surroundings, and made itself acceptable and accessible as well. It went through a funkadelic time era, but it also went through its political revolution. hip hopwas not just music, rhythm, fashion, or expression, Hip Hop was a community. There were key parts and ingredients that made the community work and many people lived in the community of hip hop. The corner shop keepers of unwritten rhymes that spoke of history and architecture. Grocery stores of different artist with graffiti tag lines that took high priced hours and low cost materials to express their feelings and emotions that helped feed their hunger of freedom. Public schools of break dancers that taught one another, learned from each other, and bonded as a family to embrace their talent of pop locking and the gift of moves. The projects of beat boxers that voiced their unnatural and abnormal voices that helped give rhymes a life of their own to flow through the blood stream to connect to your soul of inner strength. The ghetto of fashion that hip hop displayed from clocks around the neck to ladies in the baggy jeans. The people who lived in Hip Hop were as unique as the spectrum, colored differently but still could be mixed together to become something beautiful and a world wonder. hip hop's people were the music notes, black and curved that danced in the rhythm they were woven into. The bars that were sliced and keyed to perfection that stream hurt, pain, love, honor, and pride. Lose leaf paper that gave up their bodies to the way of the pen to mark an expression no law can rule against and no authority can lock up. The homeless on the street were not strangers of struggle, but lost souls who couldnt master the artistic freedom in which they craved for. They were the ones who went searching for themselves, but was misguided through the bridge of gangster rap and mainstream lyrics. hip hopwas the founding community that started urban expression, though in time the expression and the purity has been whored in many levels, that does not mean it is forever forgotten. History classes still teach it, old generations still preach it, and poets still write it.
