its a warm summer night
the shadows swirl around my fire
i see the hellish eyes
full of hunger and desire
my guns are loaded
but my horse inst nearby
i could make a run for it
but why even try
i hear an eerie laugh
the shadows houl
the fire crackles
the wolves begin to growl
the devil whispers somethin softly
i begin to drift off to sleep
then the shadows creep
they burrow deep inside my dreams
i begin to hear the screams
then i question the thoughts i cant explain
why is the moon a shade bloody red
why is there blood instead of rain
why am i surrounded by the dead
why do i always feel more pain
why are these nightmares haunting me
they claw their way up
from the deep recesses of my brain
some seem so real
am i goin insane
ive seen angels and demons
monsters disguised as men
so much evil in the world
its hard to defend

they are always lookin out for my safety

but they give me alot of grief
about being the way i am
they hate the fact that i stick to the shadows

the shadows give me the power
to write these songs

from my heart and mind
i see the darkness
for that is where i find

or back down from a fight

thats why the devil gave me my reprieve
