Great Spirit Divides Time
Body: Before there was man ...
Animal creatures walked the land.
But there was constant fight
Between creatures of day,
and creatures of night.
The owl said, "I lose my eye sight
by day's bright light!"
The day creatures had to say ...
"We can't see our prey,
except by light of day!"
Theirs was a constant fight
Always in Great Spirit's sight ...
He would have to bring peace
A decision, He must reach ....
To satisfy the hearts of each
It was Great Spirit's decision
There would be division ...
For each heart to abide
Day and night He would divide.
So with Great Spirit's hand
He created a time band ...
Equal for day and night to stand
Always across earth's land.
He then created hour, twenty-four
No less, no more ...
Divided by a time door
Stars to equal the score.
Till this time's day
When traveling across the milky way
If you reach up and touch a star ...
The time door might be ajar.
You can see day and night together
And see into time forever ...
With Great Spirit's hand fine
He created a division in time
For all creatures kind ...
Sun rays by day to shine
Moon to mark the nightline
Forever in this life, yours and mine.
