Bad News:
Some people seem to think that outside people who have no clue what work goes into doing a job should make the rules instead of people who are on the actual job end of it, and know exactly what needs to be done for the business/job/task to succeed. A mandatory stint as a slush reader would go far to educate many writers as to both the system, and the worth of their own work.
