sunday thoughts-more on parenting classes. — Sunday, November 26, 2006
Been reading my books and stuff.
Maybe we could give a tax credit or something to those who complete parenting classes. They would consist of stuff on child development, and child psycology, and other usefull things like that. It might pay off in the long run in reducing crime. People would not only have to sit in the class for so many hrs, and get a certiificate in the end, but do homework assignments, take quizes, write papers, or do some kind of practical application exersieses, and take a final test in the end. They would have to score 90% overall to get the full benifits awarded to people for the class.
These classes will be especially important for lower income families. The children of these families are more likily to suffer from problems caused by their income status and cycle of abuse circumstances. Educating these people and helping their income status should make some progress in " the battle against juvinile crime".
Forcing people to take classes to have it be leagle for them to have children, or get married might border on facism. Encouraging people to learn about how their children think, and learn and devlop, through monetary rewards is merely monatary manipulation for good purposes though. They could also give people discounts on marriage licenses for the completing of these classes.

Yes, starting out, it's another gov program that costs the taxpayers money. However, if it reduces crime, it saves the taxpayers money in the longrun by reducing the prison population, and prevents crime. Less money spent on prisoners, and less crime going on, makes for a happier world. Or something like that. |
