What are you waiting for?

One of the things that was difficult for me to wrap my mind around when Lawrence passed away was that God is my husband now. I was very honest with the Lord about it. I had no problem seeing God as my father, friend, savior, lord and so much more but husband, not so much. God helped me to gradually see him and go to him for things that I probably would have gone to Lawrence for had he been here. This morning as I was thinking about God being my husband he reminded me of something I wrote a long time ago. It’s a song he gave me for a ladies meeting where I spoke. The topic was The Bride of Christ. I’m not a singer or songwriter but sometimes God stretches us way beyond our natural abilities and this was one of those times. Yet this morning I realized this just wasn’t a song for the women who attended that day. He was preparing me, putting this truth in my heart. God knew I would need to understand that he would be my husband someday. He loves us so much and prepares us for everything we will face. What an amazing God we serve.

Will You Be My Bride – Sherry Miller

Will you be my bride,
Will you walk by my side,
Will you love me eternally.
Will you take my hand,
Won’t you understand,
I adore you, my lovely bride.

I will honor you and cherish you,
As we walk hand in hand.
I’ll be your shelter, when winds blow in.
I will be faithful and true.
I gave my life for you.
I adore you, my lovely bride.
