Hi All -

Sorry I've been away for so long, but it has been a hectic year. In April of 2010 I had a rather large tumor removed that was playing tag with most of my vital organs. The good news is that it wasn't cancerous. The bad news is I'm still usually in a bit of pain as a result of the surgery.

With that little scare out of the way, last summer I decided to redouble my efforts to get my publishing company off the ground. In December 2010 we came out with our first short story collection, with two more following in February and March. We've also signed four authors to contracts for full-length novels - the first one is scheduled to come out in August 2011. I'll private message anyone that wants the website for the company.

I'm still working 60-80 hours weeks, so I probably won't be here as often as I used to be. Just wanted to say miss you all and hope to be getting more time to catch up with everyone.

Update (12/16/2016): In March of 2013, I received more less-than-wonderful news. I was diagnosed with a degenerative muscular disorder. The symptoms are primarily high-frequency, low amplitude tremors and severe muscle pain. I also now have a very low tolerance for the cold, which makes living in New England interesting. The good news is that there is medication I can take for both the tremors and pain, so I've tried very hard not to let it slow me down.

Hi - I get asked a lot of questions about the teddy bears, so I thought I would answer them here.

When did you start making teddy bears?

I started making them a long time ago. I started to impress a woman I cared very much for who collected teddy bears.

Wait, you're straight?

Lots of guys who are straight make teddy bears. Ok, maybe not "Lots"....

Why do you still make teddy bears?

I find it relaxing. I work on computers all day, so it's nice to have a hobby that doesn't require one. Also, I work on the miniature bears (smaller than 4" tall) when I travel for business - mostly because I can't get my sewing machine past airport security. :)

What do you do with the teddy bears when they're done?

The full sized bears are usually donated to charities for auctions. The miniatures I give away to close friends.

Do you ever sell the teddy bears?

No. If I did it would become too much like work, and I already have a full time job. Besides, if I had to take one of my hobbies and turn it into a business it would be wine making.

What if I would like one of your teddy bears. How do I get one?

As I said, I sometimes give them to close friends. Chances are if you know my cell phone number or where my next business trip is to you fall into that category.

I also occassionally will make one for a collector, but you need to prove you really collect teddy bears.

I'm not a close friend but REALLY want a bear. Now what?
