LadyRed's blog: "Funnies!"

created on 06/23/2007  |  http://fubar.com/funnies/b94611
If you read my blog on the 4th of July events, you'll understand this. So....Friday at work I got a good burn in on the Beaz-man...lol. We went to put my check in the bank on my break, right? Well, when we got back to my work, we went up into the garage to my car to get the estimate for the repairs needed for it out of the front seat. Beazil had apparently looked up the blue book value of my car and was spouting off about it only being worth $1,800, saying he wasn't going to dump $1,000 into a vehicle that was only worth just over a grand. I said at least the car was paid for and that there was nothing wrong with the engine, just the cooling system. We can't afford to buy a new vehicle. Hold $1,000 in one hand and no vehicle in the other and see which one weighs more, ya know? And he started saying it wasn't just the cooling system, that the engine was messed up too...and the transmission was on its way out. I told him I had just had the transmission replaced the year before last and it shouldn't be messed up. I asked where he had heard that there was something wrong with it. Apparently the place that looked at my car had told him that the transmission was going bad. I said either they were looking for money...or it really was bad. And if it really was bad, it was because Beazil is really damn hard on cars! His transmission is all messed up to. Let me tell ya, the guy should NOT be driving a standard. I hurt for that poor car of his. I really do. Of course, that made him get all defensive...so as he dropped me off at the front doors of my building he said that I knew nothing about cars. As I climbed out of his car, I twisted my head back, fluttered my eyelashes a little and with a very sweet smile replied that I knew enough to not take the radiator cap off when the engine is hot...and then shut the car door behind me with a little skip. I know he was hollering something at my back, but couldn't hear him with the car door shut...lol. You may not see the humor in the situation...but it was my smile for the day. lol

The 4th of July...

How was everyone's holiday? Ours was interesting. Started off going out to Grapevine lake to see the big fireworks show out there with my Beazil's parents. My best friend, Becky and her son came along to watch. Beazil's parents decided to stay home last minute, but we still wanted to see the fireworks so we went on without them. On the way there, I started smelling something and said out loud, "Man, I hope that's the car in front of us. It smells like something is burning." Beazil replied in a tense voice, "It's anti-freeze. There's smoke coming out from under the hood." Of course, that had my alarm bells ringing and I jumped. "What?! Smoke?!" I hadn't been able to see it cuz it was only a little and it was blowing away on the drivers side as we went. I immediately looked at the temperature gauge and it was on H-O-T!!!! I freaked. I tried to tell Beazil that he had to stop the car now! EVERYONE knows that if the thermostat says it's hot and it's smoking...you stop right then and let the engine cool off before you crack the block or something! Beazil was already tense and told me to be quiet and kept driving. I just knew we were going to break down or blow the engine! Ack! We managed to make it to the parking lot of the park we were going to see the fireworks at. The car really started smoking as we pulled in. Beazil parked and we all got out. He put the hood up and rusty water was boiling up and over in the overflow tank to the side of the engine. It was hot, hot , HOT!!! Beazil was really stressing so Becky and I just tried not to say much. We figured the car needed to cool down and we were there so we might as well set up and not let it ruin the fireworks show. So we started to unload the car. And guess what our lovely Beazil did???? He OPENED THE RADIATOR CAP!!! Ok...I realize he isn't a mechanic...but even most women know you don't open the radiator cap while the engine is hot. Especially when it is overheated. He jumped back and narrowly missed a scalding as the pressurized radiator exploded all of the boiling-hot water out of the opening. So the front and side of my car and the ground around that is now covered with rusty water. (see picture in pics) Becky and I tried to contain the laughter. We succeeded mostly...lol. Oh bless his little heart...lmao. Beazil started a 3 mile round trip hike to the nearest open convenience store to buy some water to refill the radiator with. Sure, we were at a lake FULL of water....but we couldn't use lake water to fill it. Too much gunk in lake water. Bleh. Becky and I set up the canopy, tarp, blanket, and foodstuffs while he was gone. Beazil got back after a while, carrying two bags full of water bottles, and collapsed from the heat. I rubbed ice over him to cool him down. From then on, the evening was pretty relaxed. The kids played, we melted in the sun for a bit but it started to cool off after a while. The park started filling up with people and fireworks started being set off here and there in the parking lot. Then the pudgy cop on the four wheeler started chasing after those evil-doers. The sun went down and the fireworks started. It was beautiful! Becky has come great shots and videos of the fireworks display. As soon as she sends them too me, I will put them in my pics. (hint to Becky) When it was over, we let most everyone leave before we did. We didn't want the car to overheat while we sat in a line waiting to get out of there. We made it home just fine around midnight. Thank God. So Thursday, I drove to work in a rust covered car...lol. I am soooo glad we didn't blow the engine!!!!!

If you like cats....
