As I watch the live TV event, Mary Poppins, I can't help but think of the first and only time I watched the original movie.
It was in the wintertime of 1964 or early 1965 . I was 2 or 3.
I think this is the first memory after my big 5 year old sister passed away.
I remember standing in a wet cold drizzle rain. This was at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
My Mom had a tight grip on me and my brothers hand as we waited in line outside to get in.
It's all I remember of that evening. I don't remember the movie at all.
Looking back in my heart and mind I see why my Mom was so, so sad, and why she held my hand so tight it hurt.
She had just lost her little girl.
She blamed herself.
My Mom was and is my "Mary Poppins".
Damn, I miss you Mom...

Living through hard core addiction after I kicked cancer ass was a nightmare.
Losing my little sister in a freakin' car wreck was tough.
She was 30 and me at 36 and locked up at the time.
That was 15 years ago.
Mom is gone and Dad followed 5 years later.
I got to be there to see them go to peace.
The moral of this story is to be like Pink Floyd.
