This is my first and quite frankly may be my last blog. Particularly in LC.
I can appreciate the theory behind LC. It's intent is good but it's approach is off base in terms of what it's trying to promote.
A few months ago I came onto LC, naive and somewhat ignorant as to how this all works. I went ahead and "set up shop" albeit small and insignificantly at first.
My goal was quite innocent at first in that I simply wanted to meet someone. A person I'd seen before in another chat format but hadn't been able to actually converse with her.
As the days went on, she finally made it clear that she wanted to talk, become friends or just see who each other really is... Well days turned into weeks and well... We've yet to have that talk, and I'm getting replies "comments" "ratings" from people asking that since they checked out MY site that I do the same to theirs...
I did of course. Mostly because I was flattered that anyone would be interested to have ME as a friend... I thought wow, this is really cool... I can talk to others, create new friends and who knows, maybe meet them one day... It was at that moment I was hooked. I checked my site several times a day, whatching the numbers change, the "cherry bucks" go up, people sending me gifts and so forth...
After a few weeks of this activity as well as me sending out "shouts" to those "friends" and seldom getting a reply I learned that what I was in was a rediculous numbers game...
The goal here on LC wasn't to create a forum with which to develop a friend network at all but rather exploit those that are new, "Freshmeat" to "come to my site and rate me" and then send you a "friend request"... The more you get the more your value...
Listen people I am not condoning this type of activity as long as the end outways the means... The means being, I have more points are am rated higher than you... While the END is... well it's... it's nothing. Zero, Zip, Nadda.
Basically and simply it's just this. You've given LC and some of it's members a variety of personal information (including some VERY provacative photos), wasted NUMEROUS hours online to gain points that are less that worthless. Less that worthless beause there IS no prize, award, medal, statue or acheivement award... And the sad part of the whole thing is... All those "friends" on your list, all those "fans", mean nothing and you mean nothing to them than a means to THEIR end...
I have slowly removed "friends" from my list, pictures, personal data from my profile etc... It's just not for me... It was an exciting time but there is one thing that you all should see... Those that have incredible scores... Some have only been on a few months. Where are you and what will it take to get there? Better yet, what's there to go for?
