**First off, I apologize for the long MuMM. It's a legitimate subject in my life I'm hoping to get feedback on. Your time is greatly appreciated!
To all children of adoption: Have you met your birth mother, father, or both?
I was adopted at birth. People ask me if I ever feel weird or sad about it and I tell them, "No. Never". I never even think of myself as being adopted.
Now, don't get me wrong, I love my parents with all my heart and soul. I have been blessed with parents that leave me speechless. Having them adopt me was "meant to be". If I could, I would make it so every unadopted baby, child, or young adult had parents as loving and caring as mine.
I would never want any other family, however, I do wonder about where I came from. Over the years, I have asked my parents if I could have my adoption info but their reluctant to let me have it. Especially my mother. I'm sure part of them would be emotionally hurt by me seeking out my birth mother/father and I completely understand that. My mother worries that I'm picturing the prospect of finding my birth parents as a fairy tale type thing where I find them and every thing turns out happy. She adds, "What if things don't turn out that way?". I just want to find them because I always wonder where my looks come from or where I get my many mental, emotional, and medical problems from. I would never take any crazy legal action my parents to get my adoption info. I just want the peace of mind I would get from finally having an answer to all my inner questions about myself.
Before I state the question again, I want to say that if you're not adopted, but still have info, I would love to hear it. Also, I would love to hear your own personal experiences with adoption. So the question...
