I would just like to get some opinions on this (and I mean serious opinions please!). I am currently taking ethics and was asked whether or not I believe in the no-revenge principle or the no-ingratitude principle. I was told that a majority of people would be more agreeable to the no-ingratitude principle. As of now I know where my opinion lies but I am also curious as to how others take these principles. Therefore I am asking that you just indicate to me whether you believe in one or the other or both and please explain why - if you wouldn't mind of course. I was also told to respond as to whether or not I only half believed in one or the other so I will also make that an option.
Definitions -
No-Revenge: we must never harm anyone, even in return for a harm done to us. No-Ingratitude: we must never harm for a benefit. |
