Raised in Denver, Colorado Dog is the oldest of four children born to Wesley and Barbara Chapman. His father was a welder with the Navy. His mother was a minister with the First Assembly of God. Duane grew up tough and poor and dropped out of school in the ninth grade. Chapman subsequently joined a motorcycle gang. Dog was arrested 18 times for armed robbery. In 1977, Chapman was sentenced to five years of hard labor and served two of those years before being paroled in 1979. Before his sentencing, Chapman had married and fathered at least one child. His wife, at the time, had filed for divorce while Chapman was in prison. Because of this fact, Chapman owed money for child support. The judge in charge of handling the child support case asked Chapman to catch a fugitive for $200, thus launching his bounty hunting career. On June 18, 2003, Chapman made news with his hunt and capture of cosmetics heir Andrew Luster. Luster -- the great-grandson of cosmetics giant Max Factor. However, Dog, his brother, and a son were charged themselves by Mexican authorities for not handing over Luster to them. On July 3, 2003, they were declared "fugitives" by a spokesman for the Mexican Government, after not obtaining permission from the presiding judge to leave the country. Dog currently resides in Hawaii with his soul mate Beth Smith. Dog and his soul mate, Beth Smith, own Da Kine Bail Bonds in Honolulu, Maui, and Denver. Dog has his own Television show on A & E: Dog the Bounty Hunter. The theme song of his TV show is sung by Ozzy Osburne.

Tim was raised with an abusive father, who would later end up in prison. Starting at a young age Tim was beaten, starved, and neglected by his father. Leland sports a lean body with tattoos, a long ponytail with the sides of his head shaved military style. Leland is loved by males and female fans alike. Leland is the son of Duane “Dog” Chapman, the famous bounty hunter. Leland’s mother divorced Dog while he was serving time in prison. He admits to being scared of his dad when he first met him at 8-years-old. As a teenager in Colorado Leland got into trouble and his mother could not handle Leland any longer. At 13 Leland was given the option to go live with Dog or face a boy’s home. By 17 Leland was starting to train as a boxer, kick boxer, and extreme fighter. Leland has won many competitions with the help of local boxer Sonny. Duane Lee was only four years old when his father Dog went to prison for murder. Soon after Dog went to prison Duane Lee was told his father was dead, he would not learn the truth nutil he was eight years old. When Dog showed up at Duane Lee’s house Duane Lee did not know who he was, he was terrified. By the time Duane Lee was twelve Dog had gotten visitation rights. The first place Dog would take Duane would be to his paternal grandmothers. Duane Lee’s high school career was loaded with sports and girls until he started to hang with the wrong crowd. This once jock was eventually thrown out of school for fighting. The fighting continued at home with his step-dad, at seventeen his mother could not handle him any longer and sent him to live with Dog. Once settled in Denver, Colorado Duane Lee would realize that the gang life was not the life for him. Seeing Dog run his bail bonds business Duane Lee quickly realized the life of crime was no life at all. At nineteen Duane Lee would move back to Colorado Springs, Colorado and work construction with his step-dad. In December of 1999 he would take Teresa Roybal to be his wife, they would start working in the world of finance.
